MOUNT OLIVE — Driving his car after police told him to stay inside led to the arrest of a Budd Lake man on charges including drunken driving, police said.
Artur Hakobyan, 35, was charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving.
At 7:32 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, a Mount Olive police officer responded to Eagle Rock Village for the report of an intoxicated male.
Upon his arrival, the officer spoke to Hakobyan, police said.
Police said Hakobyan agreed to go inside his apartment for the rest of the day but when the officer returned to his car that was parked in the area of the apartment, he observed Hakobyan leave his apartment, get into his car and start to drive.
Hakobyan pulled into a different parking space and then was approached by the officer.
He was asked to exit the vehicle and perform field sobriety tests and placed under arrest.
Hakobyan was processed and released to a sober driver pending a court appearance.
