Erratically driving with a 10-year-old in the backseat of the car led to the arrest of a Hopatcong woman on charges including drunken driving, police said.
Jennifer Krip, 47, was charged with third degree endangering the welfare of a child, driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated with a minor in the vehicle, driving while intoxicated in a school zone, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, noisy muffler, and no insurance on the vehicle.
At 4:19 p.m. Saturday, July 15, a Hopatcong police officer saw a vehicle on Flora Avenue driving erratically and heard the muffler on the vehicle was not working properly.
He stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Krip.
There was a male passenger in the front seat and his 10-year-old child in the rear passenger seat.
The officer found Krip to have been consuming alcoholic beverages and gave her a field sobriety test which she failed.
She was taken to headquarters where she was given the Alcotest, a breathalyzer to detect alcohol, was processed and released to a friend.
